1 르무엘 王(왕)의 말씀한바 곧 그 어머니가 그를 訓戒(훈계)한 1)箴言(잠언)이라
잠30:1     1) 경고

The sayings of King Lemuel--an oracle his mother taught him:

The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.

2 ● 내 아들아 내가 무엇을 말할꼬 내 胎(태)에서 난 아들아 내가 무엇을 말할꼬 誓願(서원)대로 얻은 아들아 내가 무엇을 말할꼬

O my son, O son of my womb, O son of my vows,

What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?

3 네 힘을 女子(여자)들에게 쓰지 말며 王(왕)들을 滅亡(멸망)시키는 일을 行(행)치 말찌어다

do not spend your strength on women, your vigor on those who ruin kings.

Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.

4 르무엘아 葡萄酒(포도주)를 마시는 것이 王(왕)에게 마땅치 아니하고 王(왕)에게 마땅치 아니하며 毒酒(독주)를 찾는 것이 主權者(주권자)에게 마땅치 않도다

It is not for kings, O Lemuel--not for kings to drink wine, not for rulers to crave beer,

It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:

5 술을 마시다가 法(법)을 잊어버리고 모든 艱困(간곤)한 百姓(백성)에게 公義(공의)굽게 할까 두려우니라

lest they drink and forget what the law decrees, and deprive all the oppressed of their rights.

Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.

6 毒酒(독주)는 죽게된 者(자)에게, 葡萄酒(포도주)는 마음에 근심하는 者(자)에게 줄찌어다

Give beer to those who are perishing, wine to those who are in anguish;

Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.

7 그는 마시고 貧窮(빈궁)한 것을 잊어버리겠고 다시 그 苦痛(고통)을 記憶(기억)지 아니하리라

let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more.

Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

8 너는 벙어리와 孤獨(고독)한 者(자)의 訟事(송사)를 爲(위)하여 입을 열찌니라

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.

Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.

9 너는 입을 열어 公義(공의)로 裁判(재판)하여 艱困(간곤)한 者(자)와 窮乏(궁핍)한 者(자)를 伸寃(신원)할찌니라

Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy."

Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

10 누가 賢淑(현숙)한 女人(여인)을 찾아 얻겠느냐 그 값은 眞珠(진주)보다 더 하니라

A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

11 그런 者(자)의 男便(남편)의 마음은 그를 믿나니 産業(산업)이 乏絶(핍절)치 아니하겠으며

Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.

The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

12 그런 者(자)는 살아 있는 동안에 그 男便(남편)에게 善(선)을 行(행)하고 惡(악)을 行(행)치 아니하느니라

She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.

She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

13 그는 羊(양)털과 을 求(구)하여 부지런히 손으로 일하며

She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands.

She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.

14 商賈(상고)의 배와 같아서 먼 데서 糧食(양식)을 가져오며

She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar.

She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.

15 밤이 새기 前(전)에 일어나서 그 집 사람에게 植物(식물)을 나눠주며 女(여)종에게 일을 定(정)하여 맡기며

She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls.

She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.

16 밭을 看品(간품)하여 사며 그 손으로 번 것을 가지고 葡萄園(포도원)을 심으며

She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.

She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

17 힘으로 허리를 묶으며 그 팔을 强(강)하게 하며

She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.

She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.

18 自己(자기)의 貿易(무역)하는 것이 利(이)로운 줄을 깨닫고 밤에 燈(등)불을 끄지 아니하고

She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night.

She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.

19 손으로 솜뭉치를 들고 손가락으로 가락을 잡으며

In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers.

She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.

20 그는 艱困(간곤)한 者(자)에게 손을 펴며 窮乏(궁핍)한 者(자)를 爲(위)하여 손을 내밀며

She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.

She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

21 그 집 사람들은 다 紅色(홍색) 옷을 입었으므로 눈이 와도 그는 집 사람을 爲(위)하여 두려워하지 아니하며

When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.

She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

22 그는 自己(자기)를 爲(위)하여 아름다운 方席(방석)을 지으며 細麻布(세마포)紫色(자색) 옷을 입으며

She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple.

She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.

23 그 男便(남편)은 그 땅의 長老(장로)로 더불어 城門(성문)에 앉으며 사람의 아는 바가 되며

Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.

Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.

24 그는 베로 옷을 지어 팔며 띠를 만들어 商賈(상고)에게 맡기며

She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.

She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

25 能力(능력)과 尊貴(존귀)로 옷을 삼고 後日(후일)을 웃으며

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.

Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

26 입을 열어 智慧(지혜)를 베풀며 그 혀로 仁愛(인애)의 法(법)을 말하며

She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

27 그 집안 일을 보살피고 게을리 얻은 糧食(양식)을 먹지 아니하나니

She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.

She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

28 그 子息(자식)들은 일어나 謝禮(사례)하며 그 男便(남편)은 稱讚(칭찬)하기를

Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:

Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

29 德行(덕행) 있는 女子(여자)가 많으나 그대는 여러 女子(여자)보다 뛰어난다 하느니라

Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.

Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

30 고운 것도 거짓되고 아름다운 것도 헛되나 오직 여호와를 敬畏(경외)하는 女子(여자)는 稱讚(칭찬)을 받을 것이라

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

31 그 손의 열매가 그에게로 돌아갈 것이요 그 行(행)한 일을 因(인)하여 城門(성문)에서 稱讚(칭찬)을 받으리라

Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
