A wise servant will rule over a disgraceful son, and will share the inheritance as one of the brothers. A wise servant shall have rule over a son that causeth shame, and shall have part of the inheritance among the brethren. |

ㄴ도가니는 銀(은)을, 풀무는 金(금)을 鍊鍛(연단)하거니와 ㄷ여호와는 마음을 鍊鍛(연단)하시느니라
The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the LORD tests the heart. The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts. |

惡(악)을 行(행)하는 者(자)는 詭詐(궤사)한 입술을 잘 듣고 거짓말을 하는 者(자)는 惡(악)한 혀에 귀를 기울이느니라
A wicked man listens to evil lips; a liar pays attention to a malicious tongue. A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue. |

가난한 者(자)를 嘲弄(조롱)하는 者(자)는 ㄹ이를 지으신 主(주)를 蔑視(멸시)하는 者(자)요 ㅁ사람의 災殃(재앙)을 기뻐하는 者(자)는
ㅂ刑罰(형벌)을 免(면)치 못할 者(자)니라
He who mocks the poor shows contempt for their Maker; whoever gloats over disaster will not go unpunished. Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished. |

ㅅ孫子(손자)는 老人(노인)의 ㅇ冕旒冠(면류관)이요 아비는 子息(자식)의 榮華(영화)니라
Children's children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children. Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers. |

分外(분외)의 말을 하는 것도 ㅈ미련한 者(자)에게 ㅊ合當(합당)치 아니하거든 하물며
ㅋ거짓말을 하는 것이 尊貴(존귀)한 者(자)에게 合當(합당)하겠느냐
Arrogant lips are unsuited to a fool--how much worse lying lips to a ruler! Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince. |

ㅌ賂物(뇌물)은 임자의 보기에 寶石(보석) 같은즉 어디로 向(향)하든지 亨通(형통)케 하느니라
A bribe is a charm to the one who gives it; wherever he turns, he succeeds. A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth. |

ㅍ허물을 덮어 주는 者(자)는 사랑을 求(구)하는 者(자)요 그것을 거듭 말하는 者(자)는 ㅎ親(친)한 벗을 離間(이간)하는 者(자)니라
He who covers over an offense promotes love, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends. He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends. |

한 마디로 聰明(총명)한 者(자)를 警戒(경계)하는 것이 매 百個(백개)로 미련한 者(자)를 때리는 것보다 더욱 깊이 박이느니라
A rebuke impresses a man of discernment more than a hundred lashes a fool. A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool. |

누구든지 ㅕ惡(악)으로 善(선)을 갚으면 ㅗ惡(악)이 그 집을 떠나지 아니하리라
If a man pays back evil for good, evil will never leave his house. Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house. |

다투는 始作(시작)은 防築(방축)에서 물이 새는 것 같은즉 ㅛ싸움이 일어나기 前(전)에 ㅜ是非(시비)를 그칠 것이니라
Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam; so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out. The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with. |

ㅠ惡人(악인)을 義(의)롭다 하며 으義人(의인)을 惡(악)하다 하는 이 두 者(자)는 다 여호와의 미워하심을 입느니라
Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent--the LORD detests them both. He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD. |

A man lacking in judgment strikes hands in pledge and puts up security for his neighbor. A man void of understanding striketh hands, and becometh surety in the presence of his friend. |

다툼을 좋아하는 者(자)는 罪過(죄과)를 좋아하는 者(자)요 ㄴ自己(자기) 門(문)을 높이는 者(자)는 破壞(파괴)를 求(구)하는 者(자)니라
He who loves a quarrel loves sin; he who builds a high gate invites destruction. He loveth transgression that loveth strife: and he that exalteth his gate seeketh destruction. |

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. |

A wicked man accepts a bribe in secret to pervert the course of justice. A wicked man taketh a gift out of the bosom to pervert the ways of judgment. |

ㅈ智慧(지혜)는 明哲(명철)한 者(자)의 앞에 있거늘 미련한 者(자)는 눈을 땅 끝에 두느니라
A discerning man keeps wisdom in view, but a fool's eyes wander to the ends of the earth. Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth. |

A foolish son brings grief to his father and bitterness to the one who bore him. A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him. |
