臨(임)한지라
during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the desert. Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness. |

요한이 요단江(강) 附近(부근) 各處(각처)에 와서 罪(죄) ㅋ赦(사)함을 얻게 하는 ㅌ悔改(회개)의 洗禮(세례)를 傳播(전파)하니
He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins; |

ㅍ先知者(선지자) 이사야의 冊(책)에 쓴 바 ㅎ曠野(광야)에 외치는 者(자)의 소리가 있어 가로되 너희는 ㅏ主(주)의 길을 豫備(예비)하라 그의
捷徑(첩경)을
平坦(평탄)케 하라
As is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: "A voice of one calling in the desert, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him. As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. |

ㅑ모든 골짜기가 메워지고 ㅓ모든 山(산)과 작은 山(산)이 낮아지고 ㅕ굽은 것이
곧아지고 험한 길이 平坦(평탄)하여 질 것이요
Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth. Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth; |

ㅗ모든 肉體(육체)가 ㅛ하나님의 救援(구원)하심을 보리라 함과 같으니라
And all mankind will see God's salvation.'" And all flesh shall see the salvation of God. |

● 요한이 洗禮(세례) 받으러 나오는 무리에게 이르되 ㅜ毒蛇(독사)의 ㅠ子息(자식)들아 누가 너희를 가르쳐
으將次(장차) 올 震怒(진노)를 避(피)하라 하더냐
John said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him, "You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? |

그러므로 이悔改(회개)에 合當(합당)한 열매를 맺고 속으로 ㅐ아브라함이 우리 祖上(조상)이라 말하지 말라 내가 너희에게 이르노니 하나님이 能(능)히 이
ㄱ돌들로도 아브라함의 子孫(자손)이 되게 하시리라
Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. |

이미 도끼가 나무 뿌리에 놓였으니 ㄴ좋은 열매 맺지 아니하는 나무마다 찍혀 불에 던지우리라
The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire." And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. |

무리가 물어 가로되 ㄷ그러하면 우리가 무엇을 하리이까
What should we do then? the crowd asked. And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then? |

對答(대답)하여 가로되 ㄹ옷 두 벌 있는 者(자)는 옷 없는 者(자)에게 나눠 줄 것이요 먹을 것이 있는 者(자)도 그렇게 할 것이니라 하고
John answered, "The man with two tunics should share with him who has none, and the one who has food should do the same." He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise. |

ㅁ稅吏(세리)들도 洗禮(세례)를 받고자 하여 와서 가로되 先生(선생)이여, 우리는 무엇을 하리이까 하매
Tax collectors also came to be baptized. "Teacher," they asked, "what should we do?" Then came also publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do? |

가로되 ㅂ定(정)한 稅(세) 外(외)에는 勒徵(늑징)치 말라 하고

Don't collect any more than you are required to, he told them. And he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you. |

ㅅ軍兵(군병)들도 물어 가로되 우리는 무엇을 하리이까 하매 가로되 사람에게 强暴(강포)하지 말며 誣訴(무소)하지 말고 ㅇ받는 料(요)를
足(족)한 줄로 알라 하니라
Then some soldiers asked him, "And what should we do?" He replied, "Don't extort money and don't accuse people falsely--be content with your pay." And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages. |

● 百姓(백성)들이 바라고 기다리므로 모든 사람들이 요한을 ㅈ或(혹) ㅊ그리스도신가 心中(심중)에 議論(의논)하니
The people were waiting expectantly and were all wondering in their hearts if John might possibly be the Christ. And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not; |

ㅋ요한이 모든 사람에게 對答(대답)하여 가로되 나는 물로 너희에게 洗禮(세례)를 주거니와 ㅌ나보다 能力(능력)이 많으신 이가
오시나니 나는 그 ㅍ신들메를 풀기도 堪當(감당)치 못하겠노라 그는 ㅎ聖靈(성령)과
ㅏ불로 너희에게 洗禮(세례)를 주실 것이요
John answered them all, "I baptize you with water. But one more powerful than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: |

ㅑ손에 키를 들고 自己(자기)의 打作(타작) 마당을 定(정)하게 하사 ㅓ알곡은 모아 곡간에 들이고 ㅕ쭉정이는
ㅗ꺼지지 않는 불에 태우시리라
His winnowing fork is in his hand to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire." Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable. |

● ㅛ또 其他(기타) 여러가지로 勸(권)하여 百姓(백성)에게 좋은 消息(소식)을 傳(전)하였으나
And with many other words John exhorted the people and preached the good news to them. And many other things in his exhortation preached he unto the people. |
19 |
ㅜ分封王(분봉왕) 헤롯은 그 同生(동생)의 아내 헤로디아의 일과 또 그의 行(행)한 모든 惡(악)한 일을 因(인)하여 요한에게 責望(책망)을 받고
But when John rebuked Herod the tetrarch because of Herodias, his brother's wife, and all the other evil things he had done, But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother Philip's wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done, |

이 위에 한 가지 惡(악)을 더 하여 ㅠ요한을 獄(옥)에 가두니라

Herod added this to them all: He locked John up in prison. Added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison. |

● 百姓(백성)이 다 洗禮(세례)를 받을새 으예수도 洗禮(세례)를 받으시고 祈禱(기도)하실 때에 이하늘이 열리며
When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, |

ㅐ聖靈(성령)이
形體(형체)로 비둘기같이 그의 위에 降臨(강림)하시더니 ㄱ하늘로서 소리가 나기를
ㄴ너는 내 사랑하는 아들이라 내가 너를 기뻐하노라 하시니라
and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased." And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased. |

● 예수께서 ㄷ가르치심을 始作(시작)할 때에 ㄹ三十歲(삼십세) 쯤 되시니라 사람들의 아는대로는 ㅁ요셉의 아들이니 요셉의 以上(이상)은 헬리요
Now Jesus himself was about thirty years old when he began his ministry. He was the son, so it was thought, of Joseph, the son of Heli, And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed ) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli, |
