1 야곱이 그 아들들을 불러 이르되 너희는 모이라 너희의 後日(후일)에 當(당)할 일을 내가 너희에게 이르리라

Then Jacob called for his sons and said: "Gather around so I can tell you what will happen to you in days to come.

And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.

2 너희는 모여 들으라, 야곱의 아들들아 너희 아비 이스라엘에게 들을찌어다

Assemble and listen, sons of Jacob; listen to your father Israel.

Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father.

3 르우벤아 너는 내 長子(장자)요 나의 能力(능력)이요 나의 氣力(기력)의 始作(시작)이라 威光(위광)超等(초등)하고 權能(권능)이 卓越(탁월)하도다마는

Reuben, you are my firstborn, my might, the first sign of my strength, excelling in honor, excelling in power.

Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:

4 물의 끓음 같았은즉 너는 卓越(탁월)치 못하리니 네가 아비의 寢床(침상)에 올라 더럽혔음이로다 그가 내 寢床(침상)에 올랐었도다

Turbulent as the waters, you will no longer excel, for you went up onto your father's bed, onto my couch and defiled it.

Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father's bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.

5 시므온과 레위는 兄弟(형제)요 그들의 칼은 殘骸(잔해)하는 機械(기계)로다

Simeon and Levi are brothers--their swords are weapons of violence.

Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations.

6 내 魂(혼)아 그들의 謀議(모의)相關(상관)하지 말찌어다 내 榮光(영광)아 그들의 集會(집회)에 參與(참여)하지 말찌어다 그들이 그 忿怒(분노)대로 사람을 죽이고 그 血氣(혈기)대로 소의 발목 힘줄을 끊었음이로다

Let me not enter their council, let me not join their assembly, for they have killed men in their anger and hamstrung oxen as they pleased.

O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they digged down a wall.

7 怒焰(노염)이 酷毒(혹독)하니 詛呪(저주)를 받을 것이요 忿氣(분기)가 猛烈(맹렬)하니 詛呪(저주)를 받을 것이라 내가 그들을 야곱 中(중)에서 나누며 이스라엘 中(중)에서 흩으리로다

Cursed be their anger, so fierce, and their fury, so cruel! I will scatter them in Jacob and disperse them in Israel.

Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.

8 유다야, 너는 네 兄弟(형제)의 讚頌(찬송)이 될찌라 네 손이 네 怨讐(원수)의 목을 잡을 것이요 네 아비의 아들들이 네 앞에 절하리로다

Judah, your brothers will praise you; your hand will be on the neck of your enemies; your father's sons will bow down to you.

Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father's children shall bow down before thee.

9 유다는 獅子(사자) 새끼로다 내 아들아 너는 움킨 것을 찢고 올라 갔도다 그의 엎드리고 웅크림이 수獅子(사자) 같고 암獅子(사자) 같으니 누가 그를 犯(범)할 수 있으랴

You are a lion's cub, O Judah; you return from the prey, my son. Like a lion he crouches and lies down, like a lioness--who dares to rouse him?

Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?

10 笏(홀)이 유다를 떠나지 아니하며 治理者(치리자)의 지팡이가 그 발 사이에서 떠나지 아니하시기를 실로가 오시기까지 미치리니 그에게 모든 百姓(백성)이 服從(복종)하리로다

The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs and the obedience of the nations is his.

The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

11 그의 나귀를 葡萄(포도)나무에 매며 그 암나귀 새끼를 아름다운 葡萄(포도)나무에 맬 것이며 또 그 옷을 葡萄酒(포도주)에 빨며 그 服裝(복장)을 葡萄汁(포도즙)에 빨리로다

He will tether his donkey to a vine, his colt to the choicest branch; he will wash his garments in wine, his robes in the blood of grapes.

Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:

12 눈은 葡萄酒(포도주)로 因(인)하여 붉겠고 그 이는 牛乳(우유)로 因(인)하여 희리로다

His eyes will be darker than wine, his teeth whiter than milk.

His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.

13 스불론은 海邊(해변)에 居(거)하리니 그곳은 배 매는 海邊(해변)이라 그 地境(지경)이 시돈까지리로다

Zebulun will live by the seashore and become a haven for ships; his border will extend toward Sidon.

Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; and he shall be for an haven of ships; and his border shall be unto Zidon.

14 잇사갈은 羊(양)의 우리 사이에 꿇어 앉은 健壯(건장)한 나귀로다

Issachar is a rawboned donkey lying down between two saddlebags.

Issachar is a strong ass couching down between two burdens:

15 그는 쉴 곳을 보고 좋게 여기며 土地(토지)를 보고 아름답게 여기고 어깨를 내려 짐을 메고 壓制(압제) 아래서 섬기리로다

When he sees how good is his resting place and how pleasant is his land, he will bend his shoulder to the burden and submit to forced labor.

And he saw that rest was good, and the land that it was pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute.

16 단은 이스라엘의 한 支派(지파)같이 그 百姓(백성)을 審判(심판)하리로다

Dan will provide justice for his people as one of the tribes of Israel.

Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.

17 단은 길의 뱀이요 捷徑(첩경)의 毒蛇(독사)리로다 말굽을 물어서 그 탄 者(자)로 뒤로 떨어지게 하리로다

Dan will be a serpent by the roadside, a viper along the path, that bites the horse's heels so that its rider tumbles backward.

Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.

18 여호와여 나는 主(주)의 救援(구원)을 기다리나이다

I look for your deliverance, O LORD.

I have waited for thy salvation, O LORD.

19 갓은 軍隊(군대)의 迫擊(박격)을 받으나 도리어 그 뒤를 追擊(추격)하리로다

Gad will be attacked by a band of raiders, but he will attack them at their heels.

Gad, a troop shall overcome him: but he shall overcome at the last.

20 아셀에게서 나는 植物(식물)은 기름진 것이라 그가 王(왕)의 珍羞(진수)供饋(공궤)하리로다

Asher's food will be rich; he will provide delicacies fit for a king.

Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal dainties.

21 납달리는 놓인 암사슴이라 아름다운 소리를 發(발)하는도다

Naphtali is a doe set free that bears beautiful fawns.

Naphtali is a hind let loose: he giveth goodly words.

22 요셉은 茂盛(무성)한 가지 곧 샘 곁의 茂盛(무성)한 가지라 그 가지가 담을 넘었도다

Joseph is a fruitful vine, a fruitful vine near a spring, whose branches climb over a wall.

Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:

23 활쏘는 者(자)가 그를 虐待(학대)하며 그를 쏘며 그를 窘迫(군박)하였으나

With bitterness archers attacked him; they shot at him with hostility.

The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:

24 요셉의 활이 도리어 堅剛(견강)하며 그의 팔이 힘이 있으니 야곱의 全能者(전능자)의 손을 힘입음이라 그로부터 이스라엘의 磐石(반석)牧者(목자)가 나도다

But his bow remained steady, his strong arms stayed limber, because of the hand of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,

But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)

25 네 아비의 하나님께로 말미암나니 그가 너를 도우실 것이요 全能者(전능자)로 말미암나니 그가 네게 福(복)을 주실 것이라 위로 하늘의 福(복)과 아래로 源泉(원천)의 福(복)과 젖먹이는 福(복)과 胎(태)의 福(복)이리로다

because of your father's God, who helps you, because of the Almighty, who blesses you with blessings of the heavens above, blessings of the deep that lies below, blessings of the breast and womb.

Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:

26 네 아비의 祝福(축복)이 내 父與祖(부여조)의 祝福(축복)보다 나아서 永遠(영원)한 山(산)이 限(한) 없음 같이 이 祝福(축복)이 요셉의 머리로 돌아오며 그 兄弟(형제) 中(중) 뛰어난 者(자)의 정수리로 돌아오리로다

Your father's blessings are greater than the blessings of the ancient mountains, than the bounty of the age-old hills. Let all these rest on the head of Joseph, on the brow of the prince among his brothers.

The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.

27 베냐민은 물어 뜯는 이리라 아침에는 빼앗은 것을 먹고 저녁에는 움킨 것을 나누리로다

Benjamin is a ravenous wolf; in the morning he devours the prey, in the evening he divides the plunder.

Benjamin shall ravin as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil.

28 이들은 이스라엘의 十二(십이) 支派(지파)라 이와 같이 그 아비가 그들에게 말하고 그들에게 祝福(축복)하였으되 곧 그들 各人(각인)의 分量(분량)대로 祝福(축복)하였더라

All these are the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is what their father said to them when he blessed them, giving each the blessing appropriate to him.

29 그가 그들에게 命(명)하여 가로되 내가 내 列祖(열조)에게로 돌아가리니 나를 헷 사람 에브론 밭에 있는 窟(굴)에 우리 父與祖(부여조)와 함께 葬事(장사)하라

Then he gave them these instructions: "I am about to be gathered to my people. Bury me with my fathers in the cave in the field of Ephron the Hittite,

And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,

30 이 窟(굴)은 가나안 땅 마므레 앞 막벨라 밭에 있는 것이라 아브라함이 헷 사람 에브론에게서 밭과 함께 사서 그 所有(소유) 埋葬地(매장지)를 삼았으므로

the cave in the field of Machpelah, near Mamre in Canaan, which Abraham bought as a burial place from Ephron the Hittite, along with the field.

In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace.

31 아브라함과 그 아내 사라가 거기 葬事(장사)되었고 이삭과 그 아내 리브가도 거기 葬事(장사)되었으며 나도 레아를 그곳에 葬事(장사)하였노라

There Abraham and his wife Sarah were buried, there Isaac and his wife Rebekah were buried, and there I buried Leah.

There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah.

32 이 밭과 거기 있는 窟(굴)은 헷 사람에게서 산 것이니라

The field and the cave in it were bought from the Hittites."

The purchase of the field and of the cave that is therein was from the children of Heth.

33 야곱이 아들에게 命(명)하기를 마치고 그 발을 寢床(침상)에 거두고 氣運(기운)이 盡(진)하여 그 列祖(열조)에게로 돌아갔더라

When Jacob had finished giving instructions to his sons, he drew his feet up into the bed, breathed his last and was gathered to his people.

And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.
