그 後(후)에 유다가 自己(자기) 兄弟(형제)에게서 내려가서 ㅑ아둘람 사람 히라에게로 ㅓ나아가니라
At that time, Judah left his brothers and went down to stay with a man of Adullam named Hirah. And it came to pass at that time, that Judah went down from his brethren, and turned in to a certain Adullamite, whose name was Hirah. |

There Judah met the daughter of a Canaanite man named Shua. He married her and lay with her; And Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite, whose name was Shuah; and he took her, and went in unto her. |

그가 孕胎(잉태)하여 아들을 낳으매 유다가 그 이름을 ㅗ엘이라 하니라
she became pregnant and gave birth to a son, who was named Er. And she conceived, and bare a son; and he called his name Er. |

그가 다시 孕胎(잉태)하여 아들을 낳고 그 이름을 오난이라 하고
She conceived again and gave birth to a son and named him Onan. And she conceived again, and bare a son; and she called his name Onan. |
| 5 |
그가 또 다시 아들을 낳고 그 이름을 셀라라 하니라 그가 셀라를 낳을 때에 유다는 거십에 있었더라
She gave birth to still another son and named him Shelah. It was at Kezib that she gave birth to him. And she yet again conceived, and bare a son; and called his name Shelah: and he was at Chezib, when she bare him. |

유다가 長子(장자) 엘을 爲(위)하여 아내를 取(취)하니 그 이름은 다말이더라
Judah got a wife for Er, his firstborn, and her name was Tamar. And Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, whose name was Tamar. |

유다의 長子(장자) 엘이 ㅛ여호와 目前(목전)에 惡(악)하므로 여호와께서 그를 죽이신지라

But Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the LORD'S sight; so the LORD put him to death. And Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD slew him. |

유다가 오난에게 이르되 네 ㅜ兄嫂(형수)에게로 ㅠ들어가서 男便(남편)의 아우의 本分(본분)을 行(행)하여 네 兄(형)을 取(취)하여 씨가 있게 하라
Then Judah said to Onan, "Lie with your brother's wife and fulfill your duty to her as a brother-in-law to produce offspring for your brother." And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother's wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother. |

오난이 그 씨가 自己(자기) 것이 되지 않을 줄 알므로 兄嫂(형수)에게 들어갔을 때에 兄(형)에게 아들을 얻게 아니하려고 땅에 泄精(설정)하매
But Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so whenever he lay with his brother's wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from producing offspring for his brother. And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother. |

그 일이 여호와 目前(목전)에 惡(악)하므로 여호와께서 그도 죽이시니
What he did was wicked in the LORD'S sight; so he put him to death also. And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him also. |

유다가 그 며느리 다말에게 이르되 으守節(수절)하고 네 아비 집에 있어서 내 아들 셀라가 長成(장성)하기를 기다리라 하니 셀라도 그 兄(형)들 같이 죽을까 念慮(염려)함이라 다말이 가서
이그 아비 집에 있으니라
Judah then said to his daughter-in-law Tamar, "Live as a widow in your father's house until my son Shelah grows up." For he thought, "He may die too, just like his brothers." So Tamar went to live in her father's house. Then said Judah to Tamar his daughter in law, Remain a widow at thy father's house, till Shelah my son be grown: for he said, Lest peradventure he die also, as his brethren did. And Tamar went and dwelt in her father's house. |

● 얼마 後(후)에 유다의 아내 수아의 딸이 죽은지라 유다가 ㅐ慰勞(위로)를 받은 後(후)에 그 親舊(친구) 아둘람 사람 히라와 함께 ㄱ딤나로 올라가서 自己(자기)
羊(양)털 깍는 者(자)에게 이르렀더니
After a long time Judah's wife, the daughter of Shua, died. When Judah had recovered from his grief, he went up to Timnah, to the men who were shearing his sheep, and his friend Hirah the Adullamite went with him. And in process of time the daughter of Shuah Judah's wife died; and Judah was comforted, and went up unto his sheepshearers to Timnath, he and his friend Hirah the Adullamite. |

或(혹)이 다말에게 告(고)하되 네 媤父(시부)가 自己(자기) 羊(양)털을 깎으려고 딤나에 올라왔다 한지라
When Tamar was told, "Your father-in-law is on his way to Timnah to shear his sheep," And it was told Tamar, saying, Behold thy father in law goeth up to Timnath to shear his sheep. |

그가 그 寡婦(과부)의 衣服(의복)을 벗고 ㄴ면박으로 얼굴을 가리고 몸을 휩싸고 딤나 길 곁 ㄷ에나임 門(문)에 앉으니 이는 셀라가
長成(장성)함을 보았어도 ㄹ自己(자기)를 그의 아내로 주지 않음을 因(인)함이라
she took off her widow's clothes, covered herself with a veil to disguise herself, and then sat down at the entrance to Enaim, which is on the road to Timnah. For she saw that, though Shelah had now grown up, she had not been given to him as his wife. And she put her widow's garments off from her, and covered her with a vail, and wrapped herself, and sat in an open place, which is by the way to Timnath; for she saw that Shelah was grown, and she was not given unto him to wife. |

그가 얼굴을 가리웠으므로 유다가 그를 보고 娼女(창녀)로 여겨
When Judah saw her, he thought she was a prostitute, for she had covered her face. When Judah saw her, he thought her to be an harlot; because she had covered her face. |

길곁으로 그에게 나아가 가로되 請(청)컨대 나로 네게 들어가게 하라 하니 그 子婦(자부)인줄 알지 못하였음이라 그가 가로되 當身(당신)이 무엇을 주고 내게 들어 오려느냐
Not realizing that she was his daughter-in-law, he went over to her by the roadside and said, "Come now, let me sleep with you." "And what will you give me to sleep with you?" she asked. And he turned unto her by the way, and said, Go to, I pray thee, let me come in unto thee; (for he knew not that she was his daughter in law.) And she said, What wilt thou give me, that thou mayest come in unto me? |

유다가 가로되 내가 내 떼에서 염소 새끼를 주리라 그가 가로되 當身(당신)이 그것을 줄 때까지 約條物(약조물)을 주겠느냐
I'll send you a young goat from my flock, he said. "Will you give me something as a pledge until you send it?" she asked. And he said, I will send thee a kid from the flock. And she said, Wilt thou give me a pledge, till thou send it? |

유다가 가로되 무슨 約條物(약조물)을 네게 주랴 그가 가로되 ㅁ當身(당신)의 圖章(도장)과 그 끈과 當身(당신)의 손에 있는 지팡이로 하라 유다가
그것들을 그에게 주고 그에게로 들어갔더니 그가 유다로 말미암아 孕胎(잉태)하였더라

He said, "What pledge should I give you?" "Your seal and its cord, and the staff in your hand," she answered. So he gave them to her and slept with her, and she became pregnant by him. And he said, What pledge shall I give thee? And she said, Thy signet, and thy bracelets, and thy staff that is in thine hand. And he gave it her, and came in unto her, and she conceived by him. |

그가 일어나 떠나가서 그 ㅂ면박을 벗고 寡婦(과부)의 衣服(의복)을 도로 입으니라

After she left, she took off her veil and put on her widow's clothes again. And she arose, and went away, and laid by her vail from her, and put on the garments of her widowhood. |

유다가 그 親舊(친구) 아둘람 사람의 손에 付託(부탁)하여 염소 새끼를 보내고 그 女人(여인)의 손에서 約條物(약조물)을 찾으려 하였으나 그가 그 女人(여인)을 찾지 못한지라
Meanwhile Judah sent the young goat by his friend the Adullamite in order to get his pledge back from the woman, but he did not find her. And Judah sent the kid by the hand of his friend the Adullamite, to receive his pledge from the woman's hand: but he found her not. |

그가 그곳 사람에게 물어 가로되 길곁 ㅅ에나임에 있던 娼女(창녀)가 어디 있느냐 그들이 가로되 여기는 娼女(창녀)가 없느니라

He asked the men who lived there, "Where is the shrine prostitute who was beside the road at Enaim?" "There hasn't been any shrine prostitute here," they said. Then he asked the men of that place, saying, Where is the harlot, that was openly by the way side? And they said, There was no harlot in this place. |

그가 유다에게로 돌아와 가로되 내가 그를 찾지 못하고 그곳 사람도 이르기를 여기는 娼女(창녀)가 없다 하더라
So he went back to Judah and said, "I didn't find her. Besides, the men who lived there said, 'There hasn't been any shrine prostitute here.'" And he returned to Judah, and said, I cannot find her; and also the men of the place said, that there was no harlot in this place. |

유다가 가로되 그로 그것을 가지게 두라 우리가 부끄러움을 當(당)할까 하노라 내가 이 염소 새끼를 보내었으나 그대가 그를 찾지 못하였느니라
Then Judah said, "Let her keep what she has, or we will become a laughingstock. After all, I did send her this young goat, but you didn't find her." And Judah said, Let her take it to her, lest we be shamed: behold, I sent this kid, and thou hast not found her. |

석달쯤 後(후)에 或(혹)이 유다에게 告(고)하여 가로되 네 며느리 다말이 行淫(행음)하였고 그 ㅇ行淫(행음)함을 因(인)하여 孕胎(잉태)하였느니라 유다가 가로되 그를 끌어 내어
ㅈ불사르라
About three months later Judah was told, "Your daughter-in-law Tamar is guilty of prostitution, and as a result she is now pregnant." Judah said, "Bring her out and have her burned to death!" And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she is with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt. |

女人(여인)이 끌려 나갈 때에 보내어 媤父(시부)에게 이르되 이 物件(물건) 임자로 말미암아
孕胎(잉태)하였나이다 請(청)컨대 보소서 ㅊ이 圖章(도장)과 그 끈과 지팡이가 뉘 것이니이까 한지라

As she was being brought out, she sent a message to her father-in-law. "I am pregnant by the man who owns these," she said. And she added, "See if you recognize whose seal and cord and staff these are." When she was brought forth, she sent to her father in law, saying, By the man, whose these are, am I with child: and she said, Discern, I pray thee, whose are these, the signet, and bracelets, and staff. |

유다가 그것들을 알아보고 가로되 ㅋ그는 나보다 옳도다 내가 그를 ㅌ내 아들 셀라에게 주지 아니하였음이로다 하고 다시는 그를 가까이 하지 아니하였더라
Judah recognized them and said, "She is more righteous than I, since I wouldn't give her to my son Shelah." And he did not sleep with her again. And Judah acknowledged them, and said, She hath been more righteous than I; because that I gave her not to Shelah my son. And he knew her again no more. |

臨産(임산)하여 보니 雙胎(쌍태)라
When the time came for her to give birth, there were twin boys in her womb. And it came to pass in the time of her travail, that, behold, twins were in her womb. |

解産(해산)할 때에 손이 나오는지라 産婆(산파)가 가로되 이는 먼저 나온 者(자)라 하고 홍사를 가져 그 손에 매었더니
As she was giving birth, one of them put out his hand; so the midwife took a scarlet thread and tied it on his wrist and said, "This one came out first." And it came to pass, when she travailed, that the one put out his hand: and the midwife took and bound upon his hand a scarlet thread, saying, This came out first. |

그 손을 도로 들이며 그 兄弟(형제)가 나오는지라 産婆(산파)가 가로되 네가 어찌하여 터치고 나오느냐 한 故(고)로 그 이름을 1)ㅍ베레스라 불렀고
But when he drew back his hand, his brother came out, and she said, "So this is how you have broken out!" And he was named Perez. And it came to pass, as he drew back his hand, that, behold, his brother came out: and she said, How hast thou broken forth? this breach be upon thee: therefore his name was called Pharez. |

그 兄弟(형제) 곧 손에 홍사 있는 者(자)가 뒤에 나오니 그 이름을 세라라 불렀더라
Then his brother, who had the scarlet thread on his wrist, came out and he was given the name Zerah. And afterward came out his brother, that had the scarlet thread upon his hand: and his name was called Zarah. |
