1 여호와께서 모세와 아론에게 告(고)하여 그들에게 이르시되

The LORD said to Moses and Aaron,

And the LORD spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying unto them,

2 이스라엘 子孫(자손)에게 告(고)하여 이르라 陸地(육지) 모든 짐승 中(중) 너희의 먹을만한 生物(생물)은 이러하니

Say to the Israelites: 'Of all the animals that live on land, these are the ones you may eat:

Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth.

3 짐승 中(중) 무릇 굽이 갈라져 쪽발이 되고 새김질하는 것은 너희가 먹되

You may eat any animal that has a split hoof completely divided and that chews the cud.

Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat.

4 새김질하는 것이나 굽이 갈라진 짐승 中(중)에도 너희가 먹지 못할 것은 이러하니 약대는 새김질은 하되 굽이 갈라지지 아니하였으므로 너희에게 不淨(부정)하고

'There are some that only chew the cud or only have a split hoof, but you must not eat them. The camel, though it chews the cud, does not have a split hoof; it is ceremonially unclean for you.

Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

5 사반도 새김질은 하되 굽이 갈라지지 아니하였으므로 너희에게 不淨(부정)하고

The coney, though it chews the cud, does not have a split hoof; it is unclean for you.

And the coney, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

6 토끼도 새김질은 하되 굽이 갈라지지 아니하였으므로 너희에게 不淨(부정)하고

The rabbit, though it chews the cud, does not have a split hoof; it is unclean for you.

And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

7 돼지는 굽이 갈라져 쪽발이로되 새김질을 못하므로 너희에게 不淨(부정)하니

And the pig, though it has a split hoof completely divided, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you.

And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you.

8 너희는 이 고기를 먹지 말고 그 주검도 만지지 말라 이것들은 너희에게 不淨(부정)하니라

You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you.

Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you.

9 ● 물에 있는 모든 것 中(중) 너희의 먹을 만한 것은 이것이니 무릇 江(강)과 바다와 다른 물에 있는 것 中(중)에 지느러미와 비늘 있는 것은 너희가 먹되

'Of all the creatures living in the water of the seas and the streams, you may eat any that have fins and scales.

These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.

10 무릇 물에서 動(동)하는 것과 무릇 물에서 사는 것 곧 무릇 江(강)과 바다에 있는 것으로서 지느러미와 비늘 없는 것은 너희에게 可憎(가증)한 것이라

But all creatures in the seas or streams that do not have fins and scales--whether among all the swarming things or among all the other living creatures in the water--you are to detest.

And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:

11 이들은 너희에게 可憎(가증)한 것이니 너희는 그 고기를 먹지 말고 그 주검可憎(가증)히 여기라

And since you are to detest them, you must not eat their meat and you must detest their carcasses.

They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.

12 水中(수중) 生物(생물)에 지느러미와 비늘 없는 것은 너희에게 可憎(가증)하니라

Anything living in the water that does not have fins and scales is to be detestable to you.

Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.

13 ● 새 中(중)에 너희가 可憎(가증)히 여길 것은 이것이라 이것들이 可憎(가증)한즉 먹지 말지니 곧 독수리와 솔개와 魚鷹(어응)

'These are the birds you are to detest and not eat because they are detestable: the eagle, the vulture, the black vulture,

And these are they which ye shall have in abomination among the fowls; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray,

14 매와 매 種類(종류)와

the red kite, any kind of black kite,

And the vulture, and the kite after his kind;

15 까마귀 種類(종류)와

any kind of raven,

Every raven after his kind;

16 타조와 다호마스와 갈매기와 새매 種類(종류)와

the horned owl, the screech owl, the gull, any kind of hawk,

And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind,

17 올빼미와 노자부엉이와

the little owl, the cormorant, the great owl,

And the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl,

18 따오기와 塘鵝(당아)兀鷹(올응)

the white owl, the desert owl, the osprey,

And the swan, and the pelican, and the gier eagle,

19 鶴(학)과 황새 種類(종류)와 戴勝(대승)박쥐니라

the stork, any kind of heron, the hoopoe and the bat.

And the stork, the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.

20 ● 날개가 있고 네 발로 기어 다니는 곤충은 너희에게 可憎(가증)하되

'All flying insects that walk on all fours are to be detestable to you.

All fowls that creep, going upon all four, shall be an abomination unto you.

21 오직 날개가 있고 네 발로 기어다니는 모든 곤충 中(중)에 그 발에 뛰는 다리가 있어서 땅에서 뛰는 것은 너희가 먹을지니

There are, however, some winged creatures that walk on all fours that you may eat: those that have jointed legs for hopping on the ground.

Yet these may ye eat of every flying creeping thing that goeth upon all four, which have legs above their feet, to leap withal upon the earth;

22 곧 그 中(중)에 메뚜기 種類(종류)와 베짱이 種類(종류)와 귀뚜라미 種類(종류)와 팟종이 種類(종류)는 너희가 먹으려니와

Of these you may eat any kind of locust, katydid, cricket or grasshopper.

Even these of them ye may eat; the locust after his kind, and the bald locust after his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and the grasshopper after his kind.

23 오직 날개가 있고 기어다니는 곤충은 다 너희에게 可憎(가증)하니라

But all other winged creatures that have four legs you are to detest.

But all other flying creeping things, which have four feet, shall be an abomination unto you.

24 ● 이런 類(유)는 너희를 不淨(부정)케 하나니 누구든지 이것들의 주검을 만지면 저녁까지 不淨(부정)할 것이며

'You will make yourselves unclean by these; whoever touches their carcasses will be unclean till evening.

And for these ye shall be unclean: whosoever toucheth the carcase of them shall be unclean until the even.

25 무릇주검을 옮기는 者(자)는 그 옷을 빨지니 저녁까지 不淨(부정)하리라

Whoever picks up one of their carcasses must wash his clothes, and he will be unclean till evening.

And whosoever beareth ought of the carcase of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even.

26 무릇 굽이 갈라진 짐승 中(중)에 쪽발이 아닌 것이나 새김질 아니하는 것의 주검은 다 네게 不淨(부정)하니 만지는 者(자)는 不淨(부정)할 것이요

'Every animal that has a split hoof not completely divided or that does not chew the cud is unclean for you; whoever touches the carcass of any of them will be unclean.

The carcases of every beast which divideth the hoof, and is not clovenfooted, nor cheweth the cud, are unclean unto you: every one that toucheth them shall be unclean.

27 네 발로 다니는 모든 짐승 中(중) 발바닥으로 다니는 것은 다 네게 不淨(부정)하니 그 주검을 만지는 者(자)는 저녁까지 不淨(부정)할 것이며

Of all the animals that walk on all fours, those that walk on their paws are unclean for you; whoever touches their carcasses will be unclean till evening.

And whatsoever goeth upon his paws, among all manner of beasts that go on all four, those are unclean unto you: whoso toucheth their carcase shall be unclean until the even.

28 주검을 옮기는 者(자)는 그 옷을 빨지니 저녁까지 不淨(부정)하리라 그것들이 네게 不淨(부정)하니라

Anyone who picks up their carcasses must wash his clothes, and he will be unclean till evening. They are unclean for you.

And he that beareth the carcase of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: they are unclean unto you.

29 ● 땅에 기는 바 기는 것 中(중)에 네게 不淨(부정)한 것은 이러하니 곧 쪽제비와 쥐와 도마뱀 種類(종류)와

'Of the animals that move about on the ground, these are unclean for you: the weasel, the rat, any kind of great lizard,

These also shall be unclean unto you among the creeping things that creep upon the earth; the weasel, and the mouse, and the tortoise after his kind,

30 합개와 陸地(육지) 鰐魚(악어)와 守宮(수궁)과 沙漠(사막) 도마뱀과 칠면석척이라

the gecko, the monitor lizard, the wall lizard, the skink and the chameleon.

And the ferret, and the chameleon, and the lizard, and the snail, and the mole.

31 모든 기는 것 中(중) 이것들은 네게 不淨(부정)하니 무릇주검을 만지는 者(자)는 저녁까지 不淨(부정)할 것이며

Of all those that move along the ground, these are unclean for you. Whoever touches them when they are dead will be unclean till evening.

These are unclean to you among all that creep: whosoever doth touch them, when they be dead, shall be unclean until the even.

32 이런 것 中(중) 어떤 것의 주검이 木器(목기)에든지 衣服(의복)에든지 가죽에든지 負袋(부대)에든지 無論(무론) 무엇에 쓰는 그릇에든지 떨어지면 不淨(부정)하여지리니 물에 담그라 저녁까지 不淨(부정)하다가 淨(정)할 것이며

When one of them dies and falls on something, that article, whatever its use, will be unclean, whether it is made of wood, cloth, hide or sackcloth. Put it in water; it will be unclean till evening, and then it will be clean.

And upon whatsoever any of them, when they are dead, doth fall, it shall be unclean; whether it be any vessel of wood, or raiment, or skin, or sack, whatsoever vessel it be, wherein any work is done, it must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the even; so it shall be cleansed.

33 그것 中(중) 어떤 것이 어느 질그릇에 떨어지면 그 속에 있는 것이 다 不淨(부정)하여지나니 너는 그 그릇을 깨뜨리라

If one of them falls into a clay pot, everything in it will be unclean, and you must break the pot.

And every earthen vessel, whereinto any of them falleth, whatsoever is in it shall be unclean; and ye shall break it.

34 먹을 만한 축축한 植物(식물)이 거기 담겼으면 不淨(부정)하여질 것이요 그 같은 그릇의 마실 만한 마실 것도 不淨(부정)할 것이며

Any food that could be eaten but has water on it from such a pot is unclean, and any liquid that could be drunk from it is unclean.

Of all meat which may be eaten, that on which such water cometh shall be unclean: and all drink that may be drunk in every such vessel shall be unclean.

35 이런 것의 주검이 物件(물건) 위에 떨어지면 그것이 모두 不淨(부정)하여지리니 화덕이든지 질탕관이든지 깨뜨려 버리라 이것이 不淨(부정)하여져서 너희에게 不淨(부정)한 것이 되리라

Anything that one of their carcasses falls on becomes unclean; an oven or cooking pot must be broken up. They are unclean, and you are to regard them as unclean.

And every thing whereupon any part of their carcase falleth shall be unclean; whether it be oven, or ranges for pots, they shall be broken down: for they are unclean, and shall be unclean unto you.

36 샘물이나 防築(방축)물 웅덩이는 不淨(부정)하여지지 아니하되 그 주검에 다닥치는 것만 不淨(부정)하여 질 것이요

A spring, however, or a cistern for collecting water remains clean, but anyone who touches one of these carcasses is unclean.

Nevertheless a fountain or pit, wherein there is plenty of water, shall be clean: but that which toucheth their carcase shall be unclean.

37 이것들의 주검심을 種子(종자)에 떨어질찌라도 그것이 淨(정)하거니와

If a carcass falls on any seeds that are to be planted, they remain clean.

And if any part of their carcase fall upon any sowing seed which is to be sown, it shall be clean.

38 種子(종자)물을 더할 때에 그것그 위에 떨어지면 너희에게 不淨(부정)하리라

But if water has been put on the seed and a carcass falls on it, it is unclean for you.

But if any water be put upon the seed, and any part of their carcase fall thereon, it shall be unclean unto you.

39 ● 너희의 먹을 만한 짐승이 죽은 때에 그 死體(사체)를 만지는 者(자)는 저녁까지 不淨(부정)할 것이며

'If an animal that you are allowed to eat dies, anyone who touches the carcass will be unclean till evening.

And if any beast, of which ye may eat, die; he that toucheth the carcase thereof shall be unclean until the even.

40 그것을 먹는 者(자)는 그 옷을 빨 것이요 저녁까지 不淨(부정)할 것이며 그 주검을 옮기는 者(자)도 그 옷을 빨것이요 저녁까지 不淨(부정)하리라

Anyone who eats some of the carcass must wash his clothes, and he will be unclean till evening. Anyone who picks up the carcass must wash his clothes, and he will be unclean till evening.

And he that eateth of the carcase of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: he also that beareth the carcase of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even.

41 땅에 기어 다니는 모든 기는 것은 可憎(가증)한즉 먹지 못할지니

'Every creature that moves about on the ground is detestable; it is not to be eaten.

And every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth shall be an abomination; it shall not be eaten.

42 곧 땅에 기어다니는 모든 기는 것 中(중)에 배로 밀어 다니는 것이나 네 발로 걷는 것이나 여러 발을 가진 것이라 너희가 먹지 말지니 이는 可憎(가증)함이니라

You are not to eat any creature that moves about on the ground, whether it moves on its belly or walks on all fours or on many feet; it is detestable.

Whatsoever goeth upon the belly, and whatsoever goeth upon all four, or whatsoever hath more feet among all creeping things that creep upon the earth, them ye shall not eat; for they are an abomination.

43 너희는 기는바 기어다니는 것을 因(인)하여 自己(자기)로 可憎(가증)하게 되게 말며 또한 그것을 因(인)하여 스스로 더럽혀 不淨(부정)하게 되게 말라

Do not defile yourselves by any of these creatures. Do not make yourselves unclean by means of them or be made unclean by them.

Ye shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creepeth, neither shall ye make yourselves unclean with them, that ye should be defiled thereby.

44 나는 여호와 너희 하나님이라 내가 거룩하니 너희도 몸을 區別(구별)하여 거룩하게 하고 땅에 기는바 기어다니는 것으로 因(인)하여 스스로 더럽히지 말라

I am the LORD your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy. Do not make yourselves unclean by any creature that moves about on the ground.

For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

45 나는 너희의 하나님이 되려고 너희를 애굽 땅에서 引導(인도)하여 낸 여호와라 내가 거룩하니 너희도 거룩할찌어다

I am the LORD who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy.

For I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

46 ● 이는 짐승과 새와 물에서 움직이는 모든 生物(생물)과 땅에 기는 모든 기어다니는 것에 對(대)한 規例(규례)

'These are the regulations concerning animals, birds, every living thing that moves in the water and every creature that moves about on the ground.

This is the law of the beasts, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earth:

47 不淨(부정)하고 淨(정)한 것과 먹을 生物(생물)과 먹지 못할 生物(생물)을 分別(분별)한 것이니라

You must distinguish between the unclean and the clean, between living creatures that may be eaten and those that may not be eaten.'"

To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten.
